Jim
Griffin
Abundant Life Ministries-Hope House, Inc.
Palm Coast, FL
Jim is an unsung hero who has committed himself to the less fortunate by dedicating his time, talent and resources.
There are people born into this world who leave an indelible imprint upon the lives they touch, Jim Griffin is one of those individuals. A retired United Parcel Service executive, Jim has chosen to spend his years of retirement impacting the lives of the less fortunate. Prior to his retirement Jim volunteered his time, talent and resources with the Detroit Chapter of the NAACP. Upon retirement, he became a more active participant in improving the lives of children and youth who have been abandoned, abused, orphaned or neglected.
As a board member of Abundant Life Ministries-Hope House, Inc., he has made significant contributions through fundraising efforts, investing sweat equity into the remodeling of the homes our boys reside in, as well as preparing delicious food on the grill for the boys, staff, volunteers and board members of our organization. His advocacy and tenacity has resulted in an increased number of donors. Jim's constant encouragement and support has served not only as a motivational tool for the young men he mentors through the Flagler County Schools African American Male Mentoring Program; it has been a tool for adults such as myself who have benefited from his wisdom and spirit of excellence.
The extent of his generosity is not limited to the community in which he resides. Big Oak Ranch in Alabama is another beneficiary of his benevolence. At the age of 69, Jim is an exemplary model of a man who has taken his life experiences and through wisdom, discipline and determination overcame the challenges of growing up in Detroit, to become a man of distinction!
In conclusion, we often look for individuals who seemingly touch thousands of lives. However, there are instances when one life is touched in such a powerful way that it results in that individual touching the lives of many more. He will leave a legacy and not just a memory.
