Education
The Gentlemen's Fund AmbassadorAshton Kutcher for UNICEF
Education is a basic human right. It's an imperative. Only education will break the cycles of poverty, disease, and injustice that plague so many of the world's children. Yet every year more than 100 million children miss out on the benefits of an education. The Gentlemen's Fund® initiative, HP, and Ashton Kutcher believe that number should be zero and that's why they support UNICEF's education programs.
UNICEF works to ensure that all children have access to a rights-based, quality education. Their innovative programs and initiatives target the world's most disadvantaged children: the excluded, the vulnerable, and the invisible. These efforts involve action at all levels because the empowerment of the world's children is the responsibility of the entire global community. If we make this commitment now, the investment will yield benefits for generations to come.

According to a recent Rwanda Demographic and Health Survey, 44% of all children in Rwanda are chronically malnourished or stunted due to a lack of food. With UNICEF support, the Rwandan Government has established community-based nutrition programs to combat malnutrition. UNICEF is also helping the country’s 30 districts develop plans to eliminate malnutrition. These efforts empower communities to ensure that their children get a healthy start. Posted 1 day, 16 hours agoUNICEF and partners are supporting the reconstruction of 23 severely damaged schools and 68 day-care centers in the Philippines following the devastating floods caused by Tropical Storm Washi last December. An estimated 1.1 million people were affected by the disaster and many schools were completely or partially destroyed. Schools offer a lifeline to children by helping restore a sense of normalcy immediately following a disaster and in the long term promote social cohesion and contribute to the social and economic stability in affected areas.
